[Soapbox]“Your Faves Could Never” : An Observation on The ‘Art’ of Stanning

Over the last decade or two the female pop star has been on a steady incline that has yet to be bothered. Over the last 20 years the majority of the successful tours, music videos, singles and albums have been by women of pop. You had Mariah and Whitney setting and breaking records in the 90s, Rihanna and Beyoncé holding down the hot 100 in the mid 2000s and the recent years Lady Gaga has snatched more wigs in 3 years than your faves did in their entire career*. But with all the success these women and many more have and will continue to achieve they have been plagued with controversial rumors of everything from Devil worship to constantly ripping off legends that have come before them.  I’m gonna cover the people who waste their time to make it hard to like an artist and why they should be stopped. Please Excuse Our Dust, Progress Is A Must

Here’s a look into what I do for a living, I’m a Singer-Songwriter character. My friend and collaborator Janet aka “Classic” and I wrote this (along with many other great songs) it’s an idea I concocted and she helped perfect. I hear Kelly Rowland singing it, I think she said she hears Rihanna. I just thought I’d share with you a guys a little in what I do.

RIHANNA “YOU DA ONE” [VIDEO]

An early Christmas present to her navy, Rihanna released the video to her 2nd single “You Da One” from her 6th album “Talk That Talk”. The black and white video features a blonde Rihanna in several set ups and different haircuts reminiscent of Madonna’s early 90′s work in which her recent album has been comparing her to the Queen of Pop. Rihanna “Talk That Talk” Album Review.

If you were to ask me 6 years ago would Rihanna be any relevance in the industry,I would have laughed right in your face. For years she’s been criticized for her vocal performance,live performances, emotionless facial expressions and more, despite this she’s been hailed by for her fashion risk, evolving look and catchy music. However over the years Rihanna (23) has made it a mission to improve, her vocal performances have gradually improved, her music received much more depth and went on to receive several accolades and 11 #1 singles on The Hot 100 charts.
