Bixel Boys have become an instant favorite of mine after their remix to Michael Jackson’sclassic‘PYT‘, which I’ve played til the tape popped (figuratively of course). Earlier today BB released their remix to my favorite song at the moment Robin Thicke’s“Blurred Lines“, much like the original this edit keeps a steady groove with additional edits through the song. Daft Punk released the audio to the lead single “Get Lucky” from their fourth album Random Access Memories, the grooving number features vocals from Pharrell Williams and Guitar by Disco Legend and if I may stretch the man behind Hip-Hop Nile Rodgers. This song follows in the vein of their first releases with a midnight Disco feel reminiscent of the late 1970s while Pharrell’s vocals are reminiscent of an Off The Wall era Michael Jackson.
This week’s HOMMEBOY is none other than the iconic multitalented age defying Pharrell Williams who’s pretty much been an inspiration of mine since I was a tween. Today’s birthday boy turns 40 errm.. I mean 20 (I mean look at him would YOU think he’s 40?), and I’m celebrating by showcasing some of his most recent looks that have inspired and played a part in my current wardrobe and what can possibly help you out. Pharrell single handedly shows how to properly manage street style with runway by marrying it his individuality. He has also graced the cover of countless magazines and is partly responsible for some of the brands and trends most hype beast damn near go broke to mimic *points to self*. Happy Birthday Mr. Williams and Thank You for continually showing uw what a modern day innovator really looks like.
I gotta stop doing these on these people’s birthday’s it’s getting weird.
Robin thicke drops the unrated version of his video “Blurred Lines” featuring T.I. with Pharrell on the beat and backing vocals. What I love about this clip, not only for the super hot models but you can actually tell everyone had a great time filming. The tune is best song I’ve heard from Thicke since his 2006 sophomore effort, a feel good uptempo with Pharrell showing his excellent falsetto in the backing vocals and of course T.I. shows us that he went from an Urban Legend to a cool ass cat view the video after the break. Drawing you in with the sharp blazing synths that open the album taking you to another galaxy that you didn’t know was the mind of Kelis Rogers, a simple glance into her life facing new challenges of divorce, finding her sound and home while being blessed with the gift and lesson that is motherhood. Crying out her fears of failure and addiction to something that isn’t good for her while she leaves the reality of her mind, envisioning the 22nd Century where the world like present time is currently dancing while encouraging us all we are stars so to make us care about of selfishness and our own personal vain. We’re escaping the harsh reality we face and how we just never want to go back to our misery and redundancy. We then find our escape our feeling and guide to being complete making our feelings expand through our spirit and body enwrapping us in a semi religious state, knowing that this moment, for this moment nothing will be greater than this. It is such a state of euphoria that we feel that it’s this simple for which we live for there is nothing greater. We feel like a day of celebration that we should celebrate every moment of this, but every day. Nothing is greater than feeling alive and enjoying every minute without worrying or caring about the negative things in life. Continue reading →
Pharell Williams and Mark McNairy team up for the BBC S/S13 Bee Linebrand. Marrying the standard menswear etching with fundamentals of modern streetwear. Featuring camo blazers with metallic gold sleeves to polka dot baseball jackets and more basic classics, the collection sports something for everybody.
Beyoncé, Kelly and Michelle reunite to bring us a new song “Nuclear” from their forthcoming compilation album “Love Songs“, the sole new number on the comp is produced by my dude Pharrell and the writing was taken charge by the groups latest addition Michelle while the song still follows the format of every DC3 song. The song features a chill ride over an old school New Jack Swing loop. The song is eerily similar to the group’s younger sister and former part time fill in Solange’s hit “Losing You“. Rumor is also going around that there will be 3 more DC songs 1 featured on each girl’s album later this year. you can pre-order the new album on itunes and Amazon.
I haven’t posted any fashion in a while mostly due into the fact I haven’t seen anything inspiring to wear or share lately, so I scoured my favorite blogs and came across my dude Pharrell modeling pieces from the new Spring 2013 collections of A Bathing Ape and his line Billionaire Boys Club for the Japanese based fashion magazine Cool Trans. If only me and the other regular Joe’s could afford it! I demand him making a cheaper brand for the frugal guy, just sayin’.
Super Producer Pharrell Williams teamed up with Brooklyn based Artist/Director RAE for the web series StereoTypes. Hosted by Ryan Hall, the show follows the opinions of every day people around New York about everything from religion to Modern Music. The show is quite entertaining and I initially didn’t show any interest in it until I watched, you meet the oddest characters from all walks of life and really understand a few common factors that is present amongst us, one being that the human race is full of selfish asinine idiots. But one of the key points of interest is the variation of the views when it comes to topics such as homosexuality and interracial relations I’ve noticed a lot of the older folk heavily against those particular stances while nearly all the kids were for it or just didn’t give a fuck about it. The show which is currently in it’s second season is available to watch on the official iamOTHER channel with new episodes debuting on Saturdays, as excited as I was for the new season of Awkward Black Girl that excitement eventually gravitated to Stereotypes. Plus Ryan Hall’s fashion sense is INSANE!
